80th Anniversary Revitalization Project Print
News - Latest

The Year 2011 marks 80 years that the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #122 has been in existence. From the beginning we have supported both our veterans and our community. The past few years has seen our membership fall due to a number of reasons.  It was decided that we need to do something to both commemorate the anniversary and revitalize our legion branch to ensure we continue to serve both our veterans and our community for another 80 years.

The "80th Anniversary Revitalization Project" was born. A couple of "brainstorming seasons resulted in a whole list  of projects and objectives that committee members thought important. We then, distilled that list down to what was practical and could be accomplished with the resources and people we have to draw on. From that list, we prioritized the projects and assigned them to different "phases" of the project. For an overview of our list, click  here.

Overview of "2020 - Phase one"

In phase one we will be replacing the existing 30 year plus roof over the lounge and dance floor as well as updating and freshening up the interior with a lighting upgrade, skylights and windows, and a new splash of paint. A new entrance way with wheelchair access doors is also in the works for this summer.

We will be having a "Revitalization Campaign" to keep track of how the branch portion of the project is supplied. Cash, Supplier discounts and Volunteer hours all provide are all calculated and added to the grant from The Columbia Basin Trust for $49,000.00 to finance the $80,000.00 Phase One  portion of the total $300,000.00 5 year 80th  Anniversary Revitalization Project.

This is a very ambitious project that will only succeed because of the dedication of our volunteers. When the tasks are identified that branch members are qualified to do, there will be lists posted and people called to help. The day to day business of the branch be  should be  interfered with very little.

A chart of the complete project is being worked on for display at the branch.
