Courage Under Fire
by Susan Lucas

He saw the solider fall before him, there was gun fire all around,

He knew he had to reach him, and pull him off the ground.

He buried his face between his hands, and said a silent prayer,

And wondered if they knew back home, what he was doing over there

Then he heard the voice of God, his hand upon his shoulder,

Be Brave my Son, for you are a true Canadian Soldier.

He did not hear the mortar fire, as he raced across the sand,

With all the strength he could muster, he grabbed his Brothers hand.

When a solider is faced with terror, he's not like you or I

He will fight against all odds before him, because he needs to try.

His heart is filled with purpose, his calling is much higher

He is the brave Canadian Soldier, showing Courage under Fire.
